Belleville Public Library
On Schedule Despite Heat          Aug 15, 05

Despite record breaking heatwaves, the Belleville Public Library project is advancing on schedule. The construction crew has been successfully coping with the conditions while keeping worker safety the overiding priority. Exterior finishes are expected to begin in late September or October.

The 38,000 sq ft structure will include a two-storey rotunda facing Campbell and Pinnacle streets and will front a three-storey building containing meeting rooms and galleries as well as the library. Space constraints have been a challenge since most of the site will be consumed by the main structure.

During the excavation and backfill phases, tight coordination was required to facilitate the movement of heavy machinery and trucks while maintaining site activity. The project is out of the ground, and Kemp Construction is confident in achieving next spring's deadline.
